Roosimine is a two needles Estonian embroidery technique. It comes from an embroidery short-stitch style, original from the Muhu island. “Roosimine" literally means "decorating with roses", and it was used in the Estonian popular art to create red motifs in knitted gloves and socks.
Aleks has taken the Roosimine technique to another level to add some decorations and customize your knitting garments. In this workshop, you will learn how to knit a sample or a wristband. Leet your "roosing" bloom stitch by stitch!
How does the workshop work on direct?
Once you join this theoretical-practical workshop, you will receive a PDF document that you will have to print before the event. It will be necessary for the online class.
Development of the workshop
Roosimine technique is much easier than intarsia and way funnier: while knitting you will see how the thread is moving back and forth and how it takes the shape of embroidery on the right side of the fabric.
Aleks will guide you step by step to:
- Interpret graphics.
- Knit covering with a thread of contrast.
- Adequate the tension of the fabric's sample
- Achieve perfect finishes.
Once the workshop is over, there will be a question and answers section about its content.
Duration: 3 h
Places: 12
Level: Intermediate
Previous knowledge: Know how to knit in circular and how to interpret graphics.
Necessary material: needles to knit small circumferences, double pointed needles or magic loop needles of 4mm, stitch markers and 20 g of DK wool in 3 different and contrasting colors.
